Laurel Andres began running groups in 1982 at the time of the central coast floods. She coordinated and facilitated emergency mental health services for the Marina District in San Francisco during the aftermath of the Loma Prieta earthquake and has since debriefed and counseled many companies, individuals and families following acute disasters and periods of long term stress. She has completed advanced training in multi-modal approaches to Critical Incidents. She maintains a private psychotherapy practice and is a trainer and consultant to the corporate sector and to public agencies and hospitals around issues of stress management, strategic communication improvement, and balancing work and home life.

Sue has been responding to critical incidents and disasters for the past 18 years. In her work with local police, sheriff, fire personnel, CHP and other first responders, she has provided debriefing and one-on-one response, as well as support to family and co-workers. Sue is trained by and holds a “Certificate of Specialized Training in Emergency Services” from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. As an experienced practitioner of EMDR, she offers this brief individual intervention technique that allows for desensitization and reprocessing of traumatic incidents that lead to Acute and Post-traumatic Stress.
In her work with the Red Cross, Sue has responded to events around 9/11, plane crashes and local floods and earthquakes.
Over the past 20 years her private practice has included providing counseling to adults, children and adolescents coping with “normal” life challenges, as well as contending with traumatic events such as physical and sexual abuse, suicide and murder, victimization and all forms of loss and grief. Additionally, Sue is a part time instructor at Cabrillo College and has provided workshops, consultations and trainings in CISM and multiple other topics to a variety of businesses, groups and agencies.

Gloria Simpson has worked with trauma victims for 20 years. She is a licensed clinical social worker who
received her master’s degree at the University of Southern California. She is a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and has advanced training in Critical Incident Stress Management. She has experience working with organizations, adults, children and families around issues of abuse and trauma and provides consultation and supervision to both public agencies and counseling interns. Her expertise also includes addiction issues.

Tim Woods has been doing work in trauma since his first position in a hospital emergency room in the mid 70’s. His first Critical Incident Debriefing and training came subsequent to the 1982 Santa Cruz Mountain Floods. He supervised staff and provided direct services to police, fire, rescue and civilian populations following the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake. Tim participated in the debriefing efforts in Oklahoma City following the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in 1995. He has a particular interest in working with men and leads four on-going men’s support groups in his private practice.
